The Australian History Museum

At Macquarie University

Exploring Australia's past.

The Australian History Museum is one of several museums located on the Macquarie University' North Ryde Campus. Officially opened by the Honourary Bob Carr MP, on Wednesday May the 20th, 1998, the museum recently celebrated it's 20th birthday.

With a considerable collection of over 10,000 objects of Aboriginal, colonial and early modern make, the museum displays a holistic reflection of Australian history from pre-colonial times to the present day. Students, researchers and visitors to Macquarie have the opportunity to personally study these items up close in person at the museum itself, or online on the upcoming interactive 3D Web Portal that staff and student interns are currently working on.

School groups, guests and faculty staff wishing to incorporate artefacts into their curriculum are encouraged to contact us to book in a tour or consultation. At Macquarie University we believe history should not exist only in textbooks and aim to give everyone a hands-on experience.
